Growing and exploring

I’m thinking a lot about where I’ve been, where I’m going and what I’ve done a lot more recently. Especially in relation to the world around me and all the things happening politically, socially and economically. In a connected society, information is the key factor that is exposing everything it touches.

I think about it in two ways: growth and exploration. In a capitalist society (especially this late capitalist age) we are obsessed by growth and the grand pursuit of it. However, new narratives are coming to fruition that encourage exploration, experimentation and self improvement. I think of the castles across the UK, some in brilliant condition and some in ruins.

I think of how its really easy to create healthy boundaries, especially when you’ve put the time to learn and create them. Then the time comes to awaken from slumber. The world has changed and you must make that essential pivot to adjust.

Do you loosen your neck and get to work on it? Do you stand your ground and hope it works? Do you complain all the way through the process? Maybe all three? I’ve been at all of the points with varied results. Sometimes I lost my footing and completely wrecked myself. A lot of the time I moan until all the cows in the countryside can hear me! Mostly I know I just have to embrace the moment, grip it with both hands and make a move.

It helps to be prepared and informed but you can learn as fast as you want to.
