The Drag of the Past

I ended up thinking about something I posted on social media yesterday about the past. You are not your past, sure we can learn a lot from it but we can’t live there forever, you must eventually move on. However, I realise a lot of people are held in position and cannot crack the old but fragile walls of the past.

The past is a monument

Sure the past has happened, but as Indiana Jones says with any artefact he’s looking for ‘It supposed to be in a museum’ Its one of those things which you can visit but leave at will. Like I know the mistakes I made, I know what to avoid or improve things going forward. Now when I think of it, I can always laugh at it because…I’ve grown.

The present is way more important

Its where everything gets done. It’s often what separates the mediocre from the great. Its often where the most creative things are and at its most flexible. Yet, its the place which gets set aside the most quickly. Its also the reason why I have the hashtag #embraceinfinity because it really means you have infinite paths, infinite realities and choices in the present moment.

The future is uncertain

Thinking about the future is like trying to look at a broken mirror, you can only see pieces of the reflection and never a complete vision. Ultimately, we are all guessing and presenting theories of what it looks like. All we can do is make the most of the present and build something great for the future.

In conclusion, as humans we are sitting in four dimensions, three in spatial awareness and one in chronological awareness. Three of these change on a regular basis while one marches ever ahead. At the very least to make life easier to deal with is to cut the chain to our past. It can still be a thing, but it can’t be with us or we will die from the angst, energy, chaos and all sorts of bad things. Tl, dr version Live in the now, #embraceinfinity and treat the past like it is….the past.

Until next time folks, avoid those spirals and walk your path.
