The road to the quiet house

I saw the picture above and it made me think a lot about where I am. I know a lot of people probably feel like it and are slowly getting their bearings to find their way back to civilisation. I however have got used to the sound of only my own feet, cleaning up my own messes and I’m nervous about socialising again.

Also, in my own little flat I’ve finally got used to my own self. No long haul flight to an unknown part of the world. No psychedelic drugs, just time for the mind to get focused and meditate on all those previous data that was fed to me in my memory banks.

I don’t think it has made me any smarter, more just the awareness has gone up and more painful to just watch and see things play out. However, I know while the sun is shining I need to step out of my comfort zone and start engaging more than I have been.

In fact, I already have headed out to see friends. I still felt like a stick in a muddy field, but I went and enjoyed awesome food. Also caught up with a friend I haven’t seen a long time too. Also appreciated how the venue was refurbished and very comfortable.

However, I will be venturing out once again. Twice amazingly. Stretching the old muscles and trying again. Mostly because I miss the balmy summer days where I would lie out in the grass and talk endless rubbish about ideas and places.

Getting to the point, there will be a period of adjustment while socialising. Even when I’m not going out all the time and being selective. It will take a bit of time to get used to being one-on-one again. So be patient with yourself.

Until next time, stretch but only as far as you want.
